Research & Technical Experience
Independent Researcher: Wireless Épée Signal Transmission SystemGrades 10–12
Three-year independent research project, Engineering program
- Designed a wireless scoring system to replace the traditional wired épée setup, using a custom PCB (designed in KiCad) with an ESP-01 module and REYAX RYLR998 LoRa transmitter
- Prototyped and soldered circuits on an Arduino Romeo (C++, Arduino IDE), then moved to a custom PCB
- Modeled a 3D-printed Onshape enclosure for the PCB, battery, USB charging, and blade-attachment prongs
- Engineered to match the original system's weight, size, and reaction time, resist interference over long distances, and last 24+ hours per charge with an RGB LED battery indicator
Research Intern, Rutgers University, Electrical & Computer Engineering (Prof. Dario Pompili)Summer 2026
- Wrote Python code to process and graph 280 hours of stress data from 3 participants (12 study days, 24 day/night windows) to identify patterns and plan next research steps
- Compared three segmentation approaches (fixed-interval clustering at 1, 5, and 10 minutes; PELT change-point detection; time-of-day grouping)
- Additional clustering methods are in testing; publication pending
Captain, FIRST Tech Challenge Team 21852Grades 9–12
Drive team captain, hardware team member, head of outreach and social media
- Designed the robot chassis and helped with the arm and controls; modeled all parts in Onshape, 3D printed most components, and fabricated others with shop machinery
- Organized meetings, assigned tasks, mentored new members, and supported the Python software team
- Led outreach: took the robot to local elementary schools to teach robotics; secured local business sponsorships
- Earned the 2024 Motivate Award for outreach and community connections
